This thing has the potential to be Apple's ultimate David attack on Goliath. There's a lot riding on this phone and they better make sure that they get it right because everyone is watching. If they have any problems the thing will be doomed. Remember the mp3 turf is theirs that all these phone manufactures and others are trying beat them at. Now Apple's taking these guys on in the phone industry's backyard. It won't be as easy as all the rumor mills are making it appear.
That said...I just had to recently switch to Cingular network and went with the freebie Nokia just because I know if I bought anything new this thing would come out the next day. And yes I'll probably purchase one if they get it right.

because you are beholden to the content people for how long they want that content to be streamable. See loss of Dexter on Netflix as an example (or even the rolling expiration of movies).
right and that was just as an example. if you have the option to choose your playlist in the cloud and it won't ever go away bc it's your playlist.....why pay tons of money buying physical media?
check out grooveshark......

It's coming soon!
Thinking of the event last Tuesday, it was interesting that Steve finished the Keynote with,
On your desktop, in your car, in your pocket in your home theater....
He was pointing out where Apple products are - so why not your phone.
Jobs had a lot of events last year in the final quarter. I can see him doing another one soon.
(I know there is one coming up next week, but my bet on one in Oct. for the iPhone!)

There are already AMD Fusion laptops from many vendors.
In America maybe.
AMD E-350's CPU is noticeably worse than the C2Ds in MBAs. It is better than Atom but can't fight against Intel's premium CPUs, especially if we take Sandy Bridge into consideration. The IGP is wonderful though.
Llano will hopefully change this since Zacate is meant for netbook and other cheap laptops. Llano will hopefully bring low-voltage chips meant for ultraportables like MBA. So far there are no news though.

aperture 2!!!waiting for me...i m a photography lover...
i have go through (youtube) a few previous keynote that brought by Steve...
i have addicted with aPPLe
cant wait my new 24' iMac n my new iPod..shuffle
Welcome to the Mac Family, bring your friends. It is always more fun when the family grows. We are vocal, but we have a reason for it. We are proud of Apple and we want them to continue to do better, it is a win win for us that get better and more useful products, and it is better for Apple as we carry the word.

Apple still doesn't have upload to a cloud or wireless syncing, and Windows Phone does. 25 GB free sky drive, as well as a beautiful hub where you choose what to access at a glance.
mobile me does this, and I suspect, it will become free soon (or at least parts of it).

I was disappointed that only Disney signed up so I bought a ton of movies in the last week. Hopefully that got the attention of the other studios and sign up too. I really like the idea of downloading musics and I think HD movies will be a killer next year. Hopefully hard drives will continue to go down in price.
Most of the movies I purchased I didn't plan to purchase in DVD format. I looked at the trailer and liked it so I bought it. It is the convenience that sold me. This is revenue the studio would never receive before now.

This is a horrible idea. The app is just a method for accessing a database. It could be provided from a web-page just as easily. If Apple bans these apps, then people will either jailbreak, or use safari to access the information. There are much more effective ways to reduce drunk driving.

Why can't Apple tell its own phones apart?
This is a 3G.

How they confused the two in a legal battle is beyond me. If it's all about looks, surely getting the interface of the 3GS is somewhat important. No?

Question: Will gapless iPod playback be 5/5.1G feature only? My 4G is sitting here feeling left out.
well i'm only hoping that some sort of firmwares might do the right job
hopefully somebody might come up with one i guess
but the thing is i don't really care about gapless ****...
i don't like pink floyd, i don't like classical music, and generally, i don't need to listen to a 'flowy' album all the time, do i??
i'm just well content with my 5gen *sob

After a bit of thought I think I'm siding with Apple... here's why:
The strongest argument I've read against the trademark is that 'App Store' is describing the very thing it actually is. Someone likened this to renaming 'Windows' to 'Operating System'.
However what isn't appreciated is that 'App' is in itself an abbreviation. It's debatable whether apple popularised it or not but thats not the point. Basically it would be like renaming 'Windows' to 'Ope System'.
I'd argue that 'Ope System' could be trademarked whereas 'Operating System' couldn't...

Right. You won't get the full 64 bit native benfits of Leopard without either a G5 or a Core 2 Duo processor.
It'll still run on a G4 just fine.
Yea thanks, I really have no idea what 64-bit and 32-bit is about...all I know is that Core Duo didn't support it...
Now I'm buying a new mac soon- thinking of going with 17inch iMac. Will a 128MB video card be enough for Vista to run perfectly? I want as many features as possible...

I just posted earlier today about how I was waiting for the Apple iPhone to upgrade my RAZR... but honestly thats it?
I feel like the only one who looks at that design and says "blah". Its a horrible design for a phone. Its a nano with a bigger screen. Thats it. There are 1000 phones out there now that look just like this.
I can't believe this is what we've been waiting for years and god knows how much in R&D for?
I'm a much bigger fan of the iChat Mobile. (I know its fake but its a much better idea than this. Granted it needs some work too...)

They do build in obsolescence into the ipod as you can't replace the battery (easily). It does become a disposable item, although a pricey one at that. I do love the ipod (even though I don't own one) but this puts me off to the point where I just can't go through with actually buying one. My experience with rechargeable batteries in mobile phones and lap top isn't good.

So I'm guessing the chances of them putting AMD graphics in one of these models is practically zero?

Bought monitors with anti-glare coatings. And monitor hoods.
My first computer was a PowerBook G3 and after that it was an LCD iMac (not the Luxo). Never had to ever use a CRT other than school and even then it sucked big time. I feel privileged. With the release of all this gloss glass monitors from :apple:, I am saving a boat load of money by simply not upgrading to the crap offerings and just use a Dell monitor and update to a Mac Mini or MacPro when the time presents itself to upgrade.
Thank you :apple: for not offering any Anti-Glare across the entire hardware lineup. :p

To some extent, sure.
The big difference is that in the UK you can get cars which do 55 miles per US gallon, one that does that - the 17,345 1.6 Econetic Ford Focus does nearly 62 miles per US gallon.
And that car is made by a US company.
wtf, my bike gets in the low 40s! and it weighs 4xxlbs!
