Yes, you have to submit your papers at least 5 business days I think before your interview date. It is a requirement for the Mumbai consulate. Mumbai consulate is like my second home :(.
Question.
When I check the website I see this Step 4:
Does this mean that I first need to pass the documents to the application centre and only then after 3 days can I go to the embassy?
Can't I just get the date and go to the embassy direct?

My H4 spouse left the country for vacation on May 25 (before h4 expiry)
Attorney filed 7th year ext and I 539 on Jun14.
My 6th year of H1 ended on Jun 17.
The attorney was not reachable by HR or myself. HR calls me today about problem with H4 and the attorney wants to discuss. What the heck ? Do they file I-539 when some one is not in the country ? She and I always maintained proper status. What can be the problem? I am freaking out to get my h1 ext approval asap and bring her back to file 485. Now my head is exploding. Any clues ? I cant bear this suspense.
If I 539 was filed with I 129 they mostly get approved togther .DId you apply ext in PP ? If I 539 was not filed ,just bump your H1 to PP and get an appointment in home country for the spouse to get the Visa at the consulate. Just plan every thing will go smooth

Beware of contractual agreements between your company and the end client. Normally they will have contrac that you will no join the vendor or client directly after the contract is terminated. You will be in legal problems. This is nothing to do with your GC.
I recommend, since you go GC find a job else where once you are fired by your company.

part 3, item 2: "Have you received public assistance in the United States from any source, including the U.S.Government or any State, county, city, or municipality (other than emergency medical treatment), or are you likely to receive public assistance in the future?"
not sure what your point is. the list clearly states
"Unemployment compensation is also not considered for public charge purposes."

EB-2, 485 and 140 submitted in June 2007 concurrently, RD and PD both are June 2007. I borrowed my husband's Swiss nationality. Now 140 approved, AP and EAD got, but NC is still pending.
Just curious: When will USCIS process my 485? According to my nationality or my husband's? If it's mine, god, I may have to wait for 4, 5 years because of the terrible VB backlog! Is it after 485, everyone no matter which nationality, the processing time should be the same. All the world line up together. Please correct me if I am wrong.
The bad part of it in your case is that NC is still pending.
http://www.dhs.gov/xlibrary/assets/CISOMB_Annual%20Report_2007.pdf
"As of May 2007, USCIS reported a staggering 329,160 FBI name check cases pending, with approximately 64 percent (211,341) of those cases pending more than 90 days and approximately 32 percent (106,738) pending more than one year. While the percentages of long-pending cases compared to last year are similar, the absolute numbers have increased. There are now 93,358 more cases pending the name check than last year. Perhaps most disturbing, there are 31,144 FBI name check cases pending more than 33 months as compared to 21,570 last year over a 44 percent increase in the number of cases pending more than 33 months."
So nobody can tell you, when and why, even the USCIS itself. It could be 6-12 months, it could be 2-10 years. I had to take USCIS/FBI to court to help them resolve my NC after waiting about 3 years.

How much time is it taking to get PR. Is it 3 years?
uma001...they is a forum for canada immigration in britishexpats.com.
You will get latest timeline data from US. I think it is around 1.5 years now.
fatboysam...Canada immigration is very straightforward.
There is not need for lawyers/agents etc. In my opinion it is better to do yourself.
My observation with lawyers/agents is that they sometimes oversell chances to sign in new contracts and then come up with fine prints etc and put indirect pressure to fudge things.

PM your contact details. I am in the Bay Area. Let us discuss action plan!
I've just got all the info for setting up conference call and meeting with the lawmakers "info" kit.
Once I've digested the contents of both, I'll be setting up a call, probably early next week. Here is the IV lawmaker kit http://immigrationvoice.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=53&Itemid=36
Any help on this would be appreciated, since I'm feeling a little overwhelmed with info! Volunteers for meeting people with me would also be great
I'll post to the yahoo group shortly.
Here're the details on NC_Immigration_Voice:

It is our time to seize the reigns and kick start some momentum

I think NSC does process cases even though they are not within the priority date. This way they can pre-adjudicate cases. By doing this they can quickly issue GC when the date moves ahead.
During processing if they have any questions, they could issue a RFE.

I didn't find what I am looking for.
I already have a lawyer and the ONLY reason I want to file myself is because I am fed up in chasing lawyers, my company etc. They don't respond in time and anyways I am preparing all my documents my self and guiding lawyer also.
So, I am thinking to file myself.
You can download all the forms from the USCIS website.
I already have a lawyer and the ONLY reason I want to file myself is because I am fed up in chasing lawyers, my company etc. They don't respond in time and anyways I am preparing all my documents my self and guiding lawyer also.

expect an RFE in a month or two. Also fill in your profile to help others...
Why he should expect an RFE in a Month or Two ?
Any rational reason ?

Cons
2.Now all counties will be backloged instead of just I and C. ( Misery loves company)
Just because you framed this in a -ve sentence does not make it a con. removing country limits is a civil rights victory.

I got exact query.
All you need is Affidavits from you Father, Mother and any other close relative. Ask them to go to your local court house. There will be people sitting there who do prepare affidavits and notarize them. They need to do it on 10 Rupees stamp paper and get it notarized. They shall have the date of birth affidavit template at court house.
Once they have them, ask them to scan and send them to you to save time. Also ask them to DHL the originals so that you could recieve in 2 or 3days.
