For the first time I am excited about an Apple phone !
Let's hope it projects stuff onto walls, and does the dishes too. :)

using the keyboard, how quaint
Far faster than using the mouse. Mac OS X is very good at providing keyboard shortcuts, far better than Windows, although that may have changed with Windows 7.
I don't even get the point of your snarky comment. You know damn well that the functions are also available via the menus and right mouse button too.

A few months ago it was reported that Apple was in talks with Softbank (formerly Vodafone Japan) to ofer and support the iPhone.
Currently Softbank has started a promotion with Apple where you buy a phone and get an iPod Nano. It is called Talk. Rock. Could this be hints of things to come in Japan?

How long would it take to download a two hour 1080p movie?
It took my Black MB about 70 mins to download "Deuce Bigalow". This was over a decent but not great motel WiFi setup, and I was downloading some other stuff for about half the time.

Neither will be redesigned next year. Look at the length of time Apple stuck with the previous design. There are still a few years left to this "look."
They stuck with the previous design for 3-4 years. It has now been 3 years with the current look.

Im in agreement with this.
Remove them from the App Store.
It might be illegal etc.. but we must draw the line somewhere.

Do you realize that Mail uses 100% of a core ALL THE TIME? If I leave it open I only have 3 cores to work with. I mean it's rediculous. I have to QUIT Mail to do my work. Absurd.
What? There's something screwed with your Mail.app.
Think about it. If Mail.app used 100% of a core ALL THE TIME, people with single CPU machines wouldn't be able to do anything.
Mail on my G5 iMac is sat there at 0.0% CPU utilisation when it's not doing anything.

IF iPhone comes out right after the new iPod, the sale's of the lower-end iPod may be influenced by the iPhone.

That is ridiculous. Even if Apple pulls the app, They are not going to disappear. There is always Cydia.
Yes, because everyone jailbreaks their phone. Even if the checkpoints are made publicly available by the police themselves, people usually wouldn't bother checking. An app makes that a great deal more convenient to check.
Typical, guilty until proven innocent, isn't that always the way.
How the hell is this anything like that? No one here is being accused of being drunk driver. Stop acting like a damn victim.
You should tell that to my son. Oh wait, you can't, he was murdered someone like you.
My deepest condolences, but I think (God I hope) he was joking.

Woohoo! 3GHz here we come. As was mentioned before, though, a mid-sized tower priced at the iMac level (but upgradable) would be the final logical step in the Apple product line. That would leave Woodcrest to the high end MacPro with its quad configuration.
Adding a mid-sized tower would be a bad move for Apple. They tried this before and the Cube lasted less than a year. Yes, the Cube was Apple's mid-sized tower. Apple knows that a mid-sized tower would either cannibalize their other lines (iMac, Mini and Pro) or suffer the same fate as the Cube.

I'm not touching it until they offer 5.1 sound. I'm sure its just a matter of time, though.
Sometimes it helps to do a quick search. ;)
They do have surround sound support. (http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=304277#faq26)

OR make them out of carbon fiber.
This. Omg, I'd love a MBP that looked like the silly intel mockup.

Apple is the copyright holder of those images and they provide the right to use those images in Applications running on macs via the API on a Mac running OS X.
So why can't you use an official Apple API on the iPhone? That's crazy.

Think we've moved on some what from the crappy cameras in phones
My latest phone has a 3.2 MP cam - with optical zoom.
In fact - its better than my camera was last year!
A camera isnt only about MP. The weakest link of the camera in phones is the optics. You just cant get good pics from a camera phone due to the limited formfactor, even if you had 3200 MP.
So yes, in a foreseeable furture, the cameras in phones are crap.

That artists rendition posted on the front page is pointless. It's not as though that is the actual design. It looks too Nano-ish, and even the Nano look has changed.
Anyway, I'm not excited about an iPhone. It would need to give me at least one neat feature for this to be worth drooling over.

Surely Conroe needs to go somewhere in Apple's lineup? Great value, fast and soon to be quad-core.
ya, there really appears to be no space for the Conroe chip in Apple's lineup... at least with the decisions they've made so far in updating the iMac to Merom.

Not sure where you guys are getting your information.
In Virginia, to posses an Armed Security Guard license, you must take a 40-hour (five-day) course.
There's a place where I live that does the training. They use M4A1 rifles and M9 pistols in the course, which are both required for certification as an armed security guard.
