How about this:
When you are born, you are given, in effect a serial number. which is yours as a human being for life.
When you buy any digital media, this is linked to our number for life.
This means for as long as you live, and whatever device you buy, you can access this media always.
So I buy and iPad and I pay for the "RIGHTS" to watch/own a movie.
I have paid my money and now that movie is mine to watch any time in the future on whatever device I buy in the future.
They do this now. Its called your Apple ID :p

Yep, that would be nice! Being that Apple touts the iMac as being their "flagship model" in many respects, you think that they would ensure it is always as up to date and competitive as possible. I think a Conroe iMac would be great, but perhaps Apple is holding off due to a redesign. I don't know how much they could change the iMac, or if they'd want to right now but who knows...

The reason why i7 seems slower than i5, and 6970M seems slower than 6750M is because they have different baselines. They compared SB i5 2.7GHz (I believe it's i5-2500S) to the previous gen i3 3.2GHz (i3-550), and compared SB i7 3.4GHz (i7-2600) to previous gen i7 2.93 (i7-870).
For the graphics, they compared Radeon 6750M to 4670, and 6970M to 5750. No wonder why 6750M shows a greater performance increase.

Tell you what Apple. Make a 128GB iPhone and I'll pay *you* for it, rather than paying my service provider for the extra downloads (that I can't even do when I'm on the Underground, or in much of my office building, or abroad on holiday...)

It does not matter if the term was created in the IT industry or not -- it matters if it has a generic defined meaning in that industry. Windows had a generic defined meaning in the IT industry before MS had a trademark. The single word in-and-of-itself was generic in that industry before any trademark existed -- and they got the trademark WITHOUT any descriptive modifiers on the end.

The new 27-inch model will be my father's first computer (he'll turn 78 this June 1st) � I would've bought him one long ago, but he stills works for Union Pacific Railroad (conductor) and is never home. He says however, that he's ready and wants an iMac.

Okay, all the new processor stuff - awesome. Wonderful that it will have some super-fast ports.
When I got my 27" 2.7GHz Core i7 iMac, I tried boosting some throughput with iSCSI and fatter network packets between my older MBP and my Drobo-FS NAS.
Alas, that was not the case. I was restricted to the network framesize of 1500 because someone at Apple decided to cheap-out and go chintzy on the network chips.
Are they going to do the same thing on this round? Gee - one extra dollar might have made a big difference. As it stands, only my OLDER MBP and an ASUS P6T Mobo-based PC I built can handle bigger frames. :mad:

Yes, built-in 3G is more costly to buy, usually locked into a particular carrier (what do you mean I can't switch my 1500$ laptop to a new carrier ?) and with the Rev D's 2nd USB port being next to a display port, the "extension" cable is moot.
So you are quite missing tons of things. The current scheme of "get a stick from your carrier" is the best as far as costs and carrier non-attachment go. I tether to my iPhone using Bluetooth anyhow, making the USB thing even more moot.
Built-in 3G is overrated.
If you build a laptop, you're not forced to lock it to a carrier.
Cellular sticks suck.
At the least, all laptops should have ExpressCard.

Yeah, I hope when the new video iPods come out, storage capacity will be up'd as well. Honestly though, I've so many movies and tv shows on my 30gb video iPod right now, I don't think I'd need much more than a 60gb if I were to upgrade.
On my 30gb video iPod I've got stuff like all 3 of the LOTR Extended Edition movies, around 150 eps. of various Star Trek tv shows, about 30 Kids in Hall eps., all 3 Star Wars films, tons of music videos, a couple of Harry Potter movies, an anime flick, a bunch of Sealab shorts, some South Park eps. all of the Indiana Jones films, and a few more things. I still have over 7GB free for music as well.
Having an even bigger capacity drive on my iPod video--I'd go nuts. :)
