Most checkpoints have a warning well in advance. The government is just pointlessly overstepping its boundaries.

In Maryland outside Washington, DC, there are signs that read DUI Check Point Area. What is wrong with Apple making it available nationwide? Senators get a life.

Apple's market share is growing but the fact that they supposedly (according to other posts) sell 90% of the computers that cost more than $1000 indicates that they are never going to really own the *********, lowest end of the market.
fixed.
All you need is the cream of the market. And everyone else tries to follow.
Apple's penalty for losing the market to cheap box assemblers hawking Windows:
The most profitable PC maker in the world, that is the Gold Standard of personal computing with Macs + OS X.
I don't see the problem. Seems SJ made the right choice from the very beginning by using a closed licensing model. Look at the amazing differentiation between Apple and Everyone Else. And others are trying that EXACT SAME differentiation (but without the guts to actually go all-in with it) and losing. Check out the failed Dell Adamo line. Dell *tried* to Apple-ify the experience. Except for the fact that they had nothing to do with the very company that actually makes the OS it's supposed to run, other than a licensing agreement. It doesn't work that way.
Now HP is trying it with WebOS. But Im not sure if they know how "to say 'no' to a thousand things and say 'yes' to that one special idea." It's all based on philosophy and attitude when you envision how everyday folks are supposed to interact with tech. Most tech companies out there don't have a grasp on it.

I was all set to buy one of the New Archos PVP's.... They are pretty sweet.
But knowing my previous buying luck, I'd buy it, then Apple would release the new vPod and movie store.
If what you write is true, would you mind buying that Archos PVP?
I sure would like a new iPod video...

There is no way in hell that they will introduce laptops at this event.
Period.
I agree. This isn't a big computer hardware event. This is why I'm banking on the this Tuesday, the 19th for C2D MBP's. I think.:)

I just called 2 of my local (Northern Virginia) Apple retail stores, and the 80GB iPods aren't in stock as of yet. Looks like it will be a few days until they show up. Apple's online store shows shipping times of "1-3 days". :(

Maybe we'll see a new Mini with Thunderbolt and an SSD option during the same time frame!

So I think we may see the entire line get a revamp: mac mini gets faster chips (still Yonah), perhaps same with MB, though that may just get a price drop. MBPs/iMacs get new processors, and we get the new MPs.
All at WWDC?
All at WWDC?

+1 I know theres, an external hard drive available, but I'm curious myself to see what get's released.

This report might be a little misleading.
I am sure that Movie studios planning to invest millions in offering their movies throught iTMS would wait for more than just 1 week to make their decision. It is not a small business move like just some extra cash. It is far bigger than that!
Also, user satisfaction is important in judging the actual success of the store itself since it would rely quite a lot on repeat buyers and regular customers. And so far, the customer satisfaction does not seem to be highly inspiring.

This is most unfortunate. Now that TB is a reality, it would be far better if Intel just kills USB 3.0 completely as fast as possible. There is absolutely no advantage whatsoever in having USB survive past 2.0 at this point. With 3.0 barely entering the market, there is no value in letting it get a foothold. It is pathetically obsolete compared to TB.
What is with the comments about wanting USB 3.0 on Macs? What a huge waste of time and money - you should be wanting TB on more peripherals. Even if Intel is going to be dumb enough to keep USB 3.0 around, hopefully Apple will hold the line and refuse to put it in Macs. With Apple's resurgent strength in the computer market while everyone else is tanking, that would be enough incentive to get the peripheral makers to adopt TB.
So you want Firewire thing all over again? Apple is too small to push and make hardware standards thats the bottom line, sure they can just ignore it but cripple their users.
Now here is a kicker, what portable hardware can utilize the speed of TB to its advantage? HDD cant they are limited to their RPMS anyway, audio interfaces are fine with USB2 or FW400/800 and soon they will be switching to USB3. So that leaves you with video I/O devices that could benefit from TB. Niche market that is.
Until SSDs becomes portable reality we will not see wide spread of TB. And only then it will be up to Apple to support advanced SSDs.
USB is way too widespread to be ignored and belive me TB will always be secondary to USB kind of like FW is today. I dont agree with it but thats how it will go down probably.

I think the building consensus is that PC gaming is wearing. Intel's graphic chip shouldn't detour many with the much improved CPU to boot. I'm totally happy I skipped the 2010 refresh.
PC gaming corners you into a constant cycle of bleeding your checking account dry; console gaming is infinitely more cost-effective. Once you start to appreciate this dynamic, you'll find yourself upgrading all your toys a lot less often and having money to take vacations and such :)

The USB 2.0 ports will be simply be upgraded to USB 3.0 ports - count on it once the chipsets only support USB 3.0.
ThunderPort is going to be far more expensive than USB 3.0 - USB will stay king for most devices (those needing 100 MB/sec or less). ThunderPort will be a high end special purpose connector for RAID-arrays, breakout boxes, eSATA/USB 3.0 hubs, docking stations, specialized audio/video equipment.
Just like cheap, ubiquitous USB 2.0 killed 1394a and 1394b in the marketplace (and killed FW1600 and FW3200 in the womb), USB 3.0 will be fine for the tasks that most people have.
I doubt anyone purchasing a MacBook Pro or iMac won't be able to wait a bit longer when transferring files, actually. Which makes me wonder why Apple put them in, instead of USB 3.0, if it's that cheaper, and still that fast. I do realize that I am somewhat contradicting myself now.
I am sure I won't be needed thunderbolts transferring speeds, ever.

And then there's a thing called the speed limit. Doesn't matter if she did 45, 55, or 65. She's still in the right.
Well that's not entirely right either. Driving too slowly, especially in the fast lane, can get you a ticket as well.
It all comes down to reasonableness and safety. I don't think most posters in this thread object to drivers who go faster than the posted limit when they are cautious, calm, and experienced.
The OP's attitude is shocking because it is full of youthful arrogance of the type that usually ends up in a Red Asphalt video.

I actually agree. Pull 'em. It may be censorship, but it's dangerous not to.
Im in agreement with this.
Remove them from the App Store.
It might be illegal etc.. but we must draw the line somewhere.
Pull them Apple. I'm honestly surprised they were allowed in the first place...
Personally I find it hard to believe that so drunk as to warrant avoiding a checkpoint will be collected enough to use the app effectively in the first place.
Do a poll macrumors.... Us 6 want them pulled Now!!... the others not quoted want them to stay on the App Store for no real good or beneficial reason

I'm not saying that my speed was legal, but after she brakechecked me, she dropped her speed to under 55mph which is illegal at least in portions of Michigan; there's a thing called a minimum speed limit.

2 wrongs don't make a right.
EDIT: @ Rodimus - Had she hit me when I slammed on the brakes, she would have been at fault. All I have to do is tell the cop that I thought I saw an animal run across the road. She is supposed to keep enough distance to be able to stop if I slam on the brakes. Doesn't matter than I cut her off, she has to prove that I did, and she also has to prove that I slammed on the breaks with malice.
-Don
Lying to the cops. Wonderful idea.

I really don't think it is necessary to call me or any member of my family "pathetic." There's nothing wrong with manipulating the system to your advantage, if you do it for a valid purpose (such as teaching a crappy driver a lesson).
-Don
So, to teach someone a lesson, your mom caused an accident, lied to the police and as a result the other driver had to pay out almost $20,000.
You and your mother are pathetic. Hopefully, someday you will be on the receiving end of someone who games the system and it costs you big time.
