Hi, Everyone,
Any idea how long it takes to get 485 approved. I applied on EB1. My I-140 was approved in Jan07. Any idea about FBI check I mean Background check,Name check and other checks.....how much time it takes....
And in case if it stck where it could be and how to check the status of that stuck??????????????/
Can any one tell me how to check the status of my application or name chack with FBI.Where to call, whats the number and what to ask there etc etc....and other related questions
I'll appreciate your suggestions and reply.

I got myself in somewhat of a mess here and wondering if there is any solution?
I filed for my I-485 on June 28th and it reached UCSIS on 2nd July. I wasn't able to do the same for my wife as she was in India at that time.
She is back now and I want to file her I-485 but my lawyer tells me I can not do that because it either needs to be filed concurrently with mine or they need to have a receipt for my I-485 which doesn't seem to be coming in the next few weeks.
Is there anything else I can do? Anyone has similar experiences? Will a copy of my I-485 filing do?

You might want to be careful abt the Birth Certificate.
I have seen in many forums and even heard from a friend who sponsored his parents with the Original Certificate.

I believe my parents need to carry my Birth Certificate along with other documents for the interview. Do they need to carry my original birth certificate or copy of my birth certifcate is fine.

My Father is applying for Citizenship in Nov 10. If he becomes Citizen then can I file I485 under F3(married sons and daughters of citizen parents). Category and port priority date of May 03 from my employment base I-485 to I-485 under F3?

Hi, Last August 07, I have applied for 140 & 485 and have a priority date of Feb 2005. I got married in July 08. Now, I can't apply 485 for my spouse as dates are not current. My 140 got approved. I am just worried that My 485 might get approved before I could apply 485 for my spouse. And no one knows when 485 date will be current again. Any ideas? Any one is in my situation?

Since the current job requirement is bachelor, your employer can not file GC in EB2.:o

I have a masters degree (MCA) but the job does not require a masters when I joined. I have my bachelors (both 3yr degrees from India). I have close to 10 years of professional experience.
Do I qualify for the port, assuming my job does not require masters degree. Thank you all in advance.

With the elections changing the senators..we have to contact the new senators to pass our bills..so we need to write to new and important senators to pass the Bills...I was wondering if anybody had a list of new senators and thier addresses so that we would write a letter...sign in by hand and post...I have allways seen that sending sending Fedex is better that sending 37 cents stamped letter...but at least we should send in the 37cent letter..
Our activism will save us from this being taken up after the 2008 election!!.
The leaders have already mentioned that they have a common ground on immigration..we just need to stir up a debate and things will pass...

Gurus Here is my situation:
1) I am in my 4th year of H1-B still valid
2) My 1-140 is pending (Concurrently filed in July 2007) so more than > 180 days
3) Have approved EAD and AP
4) My Current company was a joint version between company A-B . differnt name X
5) Today they decide to split and My job will move to company A by end of this month. Work won�t change..will keep doing what have been doing But now employee of comany A not X
What are my options? I am worried about my GC process..will I loose everything and have to restart the process since I can not evoke my AC21 ..since it�s not approved yet.
Please Advise

First of all you would need a visa to visit UK.
I don't think Malaysian nationals residing legally in US and travelling to UK need a visitor visa...But I am not sure if UK visa law considers pending I-485 (AOS) a valid status....If you still maintain a valid H1 status but plan to re-enter on AP, you should be ok in my view...

I need a little advice on sponspring my uncle vistor's visa from India
My uncle works in auto industry and I would like to nspor him for a vistor visa. His family will not be visting and he is taking care of his in-laws as well.
Does including his family members make any difference?
Also, having a different family name makes any difference in the sponsor's letter?

having valid AP at any time, even though is not a legal requirement, is a necessity due to potential emergency travel to home country or any other country. Hence it is safe to reapply AP 2-3 months before expiry and EAD 3-4 months before expiry. This will give you peace of mind.
