U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has launched its newly re-designed Web site (http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis). Although the Web site update was scheduled to be introduced September 22, 2009, attorney Eugenia Ponce visited the site Monday and has this report:
The updated Web site is organized according to categories.The categories are displayed as Topics, Forms, Resources, Laws, News, and About Us. The topics are categorized as follows: Adoption, Permanent Residence, Humanitarian, Citizenship, Members of the Military and Their Family, Family, Visit the U.S., Working in the U.S, and Genealogy. After clicking on a specific topic, I was provided helpful information and even more additional information was available through the links on the left of the screen.The advantage of categorizing the information by topic is that individuals are now able to familiarize themselves with the process from start to finish. There are other helpful links and tools within each specific topic.
Another key feature to the Web site is that there is a “where to start” link. Before, individuals could navigate throughout the Web site not knowing where to even begin their search on a narrow issue. Now, the “where to start link” will allow individuals to begin their immigration search by narrowing it down to their specific issue. For instance, there is a scroll-down available for individuals under the “where to start” link. It states “I Am,” and one can select from the various choices available and get specific information relating to any issue.
Given the new era with text messaging (even various airline companies provide flight and gate status information through text messaging), USCIS has upgraded its site by adding a link that allows individuals to receive case status updates via text messages. The newly designed site has provided a one-stop resource center for individuals with specific queries and I am excited in navigating throughout their links. Only one good thing I can see on PBEC efficieny is atleast they are processing cases from Nov 04. Which is really really a good news based on the pace they were at last year same time.
Its not a surprise to anyone who is member of this forum that how efficient PEBC works!! As a matter of fact I have an excellent example here with my Labor Certification, which I wanted to share with you all.
My company just received a latter titled as "Confirmation of Withdrawal" which states that your Labor Processing Application filed in November xx, 2004 is withdrawn, as requested by your letter dated August xx, 2004.
Isn't that amazing that they are so swamped and desperate in eliminating the backlog that they do not know the chronological order of the dates also?
Backlog Elimination Centers' are the biggest waste of Taxpayers Money, I think.

A good attorney would never recommend job description in such micro terms. What does your labor certification say ? Match it as much to that one. CIS is not concerned about that level of micro detail (servlets or XML). The description should be a a level that can be easily understood by an adjudicator.

Hi Ravi - My wife also got 221(g) while stamping in Mumbai. It looks like they are issuing it to all people with AP. Yesterday we entered US back using AP and did not inform the consulate. If the consulate clears 221(g), you can use it anytime upto next 1 yr. Since you have already paid them the money, why you want to say NO thanks so soon? You can enter US using AP and later inform the consulate or not inform them at all. does it make a difference? Who knows you might have to travel to India and may want to try your luck one more time.

My case is similar too, my husband filed 485 for both of us on 29th June, we both have H1b. But on June 15th one H1b transfer was filed for me (dependent in 485) which was confirmed to us on June 22nd and I joined new company on June 26th.
But the whole transfer thing is not mentioned in 485 because we were not aware at time of filling forms (june 18th).
Is this going to create problem? do we need to send update/form to USCIS about this?
you dont need to do anything. they can track the changes based on I-94 sent for transfer.
In fact if you id COS to H4 then that too would have been okay.

I think it is time we started our own chapter in NE and get the action going. Members from Nebraska, please respond.
Yes that's the spirit. Starting off is difficult but you only need a few dedicated members to get the ball rolling, and motivate others. We have members in different parts of NC, and we are able to get a lot of things done on the phone or internet.
You can start by creating a google or yahoo group, and verify member information (name, contact info and such) as you sign them up.

The upside-down "V" shaped branches in the upper left corner are distracting, but could probably be cloned out with a bit of work in PS. The bright leaves in the upper right corner are also distracting, but a bit of burning in could probably make them stand out less. The water is blown out down at the bottom, but that's easy to excuse if you're using a P&S where you don't have much control over the exposure - or even a way to reliably gauge it until the image is on your computer monitor. Overall, the image has potential, and it shouldn't be too hard to fix most of the little issues I see with a bit of time in Photoshop. :)

The Swine Flu saga continues. Mexico reported three new deaths from the swine flu epidemic Saturday and urged citizens not to let their guard down against a virus that has killed 19 in people in Mexico and is spreading across Asia and Europe.
Health Secretary Jose Angel Cordova said Mexico's confirmed swine flu cases jumped to 473, including the 19 deaths. The previous death toll in Mexico was 16. A Mexican toddler also died in Texas days ago, for a worldwide total of 20.
In accordance with measures announced by the Government of Mexico to limit the congregation of large crowds to prevent the spread of the H1N1 virus, the U.S. Embassy in Mexico City and the U.S. Consulate General in Ciudad Juarez advise that most consular services are being suspended. The dates listed below may change. The Embassy and Consulate General will monitor the H1N1 situation continuously during the week and will update information on our website if the dates of the suspension of service change.
Immigrant Visa operations in Ciudad Juarez have been suspended from April 30 to May 8. Immigrant visa and waiver applicants who have April 29 appointments should proceed to the Consulate. The panel physicians are closed. Those applicants who have consular immigrant visa appointments after May 8 and have not yet obtained their medical exams should not come to Juarez until the panel physicians have re-opened.
All non-immigrant visas operations in Mexico have been suspended until May 6.
Consular services for U.S. citizens throughout Mexico will be limited to emergency assistance and to citizenship applications (passports and consular reports of birth abroad, or CRBA). Well, my forms were returned to my attorney because of some filing issue. So instead of my EAD as I was expecting I have to refile. Of course I now have a job offer that I would like to take.
My husband (who is a US citizen) is in school and will be depending on my salary. I dont know if that counts as a big financial loss.
Where can I go to find this out. I think my attorney i doing a less than great job in giving me the proper options to choose from.
Any help would be appreciated.
