I don't see how Apple asking Toyota to take the theme down can be considered controlling or dominant by Apple? It's a question they could have said no. Unsurprisingly their relationship with Apple is more important than an ugly theme made with 30 minutes of Photoshop...

+1 for Apple
Anyone saying they are a monopoly or anti-competitive should actually learn what those terms actually mean before throwing them around.
Haters gonna hate.

It is happening, these signs are metric rather than imperial.
While they aren't really for general public use it does help people get used to how far a kilometer is and will ultimately add the transition.
That is interesting, never knew that. I don't think the problem with converting road signs is so much money, but logistics. If they are all changed very quickly that needs a huge workforce, if it is staged over time it could be confusing. I'd like to see it happen in the next few years, the imperial system needs to die out.

I can't really see any reason for Apple to track people. They are not Google. The author of that email is an idiot. Posts on other sites about the issue from FanDroids have been laughable, as they seem to think Google would never track them. That's kind of the nature of the their business. Google tracks everything you do, and is in the news almost weekly for controversial tracking practices.
Cnet had an interesting article showing how law enforcement has been using this data in the iPhone for over a year, and cites incidents where it's been used in court to place people at the vicinity of crimes and show their movements:
http://news.cnet.com/8301-31921_3-20056344-281.html
I don't think Apple is watching our movements the way that Google does. Google wants to know where you are, where you've been, what sites you surf, what products you look at, what you search for, what color you fence is in the front yard... it helps them serve up ads. If Apple used any data, I think it would be for technical improvements, and when you set up an IOS device it does give you an option to send or not to send data back to Apple for those reasons.
http://cnettv.cnet.com/skynet-here/9742-1_53-50103658.html This was a fun clip picking on Google and comparing them to Skynet.

Apple is one greedy corporation that just loves to attack.. typical of the coming corporate takeover of humanity.
How is this an attack? Apple can't make enough devices to match demand, while RIM will have a hard time selling the few units they do make. If RIM had people lining up every morning to get an rPad, they would have an issue.
You are not supply limited if you can't sell what you make.

I don't understand.
I think the update will come before Septemver 16th. If I order before the 16th I can take advantage of the free iPod. I don't care if this means order, ship in x weeks.
The updated Books will not be a qualifying Mac for the Free iPod.

I dont think its going to be though the App Store. The only reason its thought he app store now is the minimise abuse.
Anyway, what happens if you whole hard drive dies?
What if you want to reinstall everything from scratch?
There is just too many what ifs
I think the should use USB flash drives rather then DVDs IF the flash drives are faster then the DVD
The app store is for apps and not for a whole OS

By now you should know that Apple is a greedy company, just wanting to hurt others and bankrupt several in the process.. its corporate america at its best.. hopefully NOT FOR TOO LONG.
Apple makes products that people want. RIM makes products that cause people to point and laugh. Google makes products that they can only sell two for one or give away for free. Microsoft makes products that sit on the shelves until they are sent of to be recycled.
Don't get me wrong, I like Google. Gmail is great and Google is the only search I use. Unfortunately, they don't know how to make mobile devices.

All I want to see is a new Macbook Pro at the WWDC, couldn't care less about the Mac Pro or Leopard
Well good for you! However, WWDC will be all about Leopard and Mac Pro... not the Macbook Pro that has already been updated.
Amazing how many people are whining for an Intel processor update when the line isn't even completed yet. Emphasis needs to be on getting desktops out ... then updating everything else.

(48/2)(9+3) would be straight forward. The way the formula was originally typed lends interpretation as:
48/
2(9+3)
Why would someone choose to group one set with parentheses and not another unless they were being intentionally ambiguous?
Did you call your elementary school teacher? I didn't. They taught me well enough the first time.

one problem, that will never happen. Alltel does not own their network or even remotly have any form of cash to set it up. they just rent their network. Second, you can offer as much as of a cool device as you want, but its not going to cause millions of people to just dump their plans, break their contracts and switch. Mac cool-aid, down, now!
going to have to say you're wrong on that one
my dad has said if apple comes out with a cell phone hes canceling all of our cell phone plans and getting apples. he has a verizon treo my step mom brother and sister have nextel phones

"We don't track anyone." probably true, but he forgot to say the rest of the phrase. :)
...the file is there if the FBI, CIA, NSA or whoever needs it.
And they can get the same data from AT&T or Verizon from tower pings.
Don't you watch CSI? :p

Fake. Yet another chipset change would lead to many unnecessary problems.
Like some others have said - Apple, being so wonderfully customer-experience focussed, wouldn't do this is there weren't some tangible benefits that outweighed the downsides.
Yes, this could be a 'fake' rumour, but it's certainly well within the realms of possibility.
As I mentioned above, the biggest hurdle would be x86 emulation. I would suspect ARM are looking at that closely, and would have some kind of on-chip functionality to speed up that process.

While I am excited I'm still not convienced we can conquer the bandwidth issues for higher resolution sources. What I would really like to see (yes I'm dreaming, copywrite, etc) is iTunes to let me do what I do for music with my movies. I realize you can do this today, but lets make it built in and easy. I put a DVD in and iTunes asks me if I want to "rip" it into my video library. The fattest download pipe is when I buy a DVD off the shelf and take it home.
At 15$ a pop I'd rather have a physical DVD. I'm one of the odd ones that was/is hoping for rental subscriptions. I would like the same model as netflix except with the downloads. I pay a monthly fee and can download and watch x movies at the same time. The beauty over netflix there is if I want to watch a movie, I can have it relatively faster then waiting for it to ship.
Finally I of course want a real video ipod. Even if the content isn't all available yet from iTunes, I can make my own and will have the new hardware form factor. One year and holding I am waiting to upgrade my old 3G ipod with dying battery.

1) Intel transition
blah blah blah, it has been quick, painless developers, developers developers. Everyone has been receptive except $#%#@@! Adobe
Intel keep giving us the chips
today we update MBP and iMac to core 2 duo
That would be a very solid step, especially if they ship soon.
I hope the iMac has its guts reconfigured to be more accesible like the early G5 was.
Also on the iMac. A wirelesskeyboard and mighty mouse option might be nice.
Also, a 500 HDD upgrade that didn't cost the earth.
A single Gig stick as standard would also be a nice step, even if only for the 20"
2)Talking about tranistion there are 2 products which haven't yet been transistioned
PowerMac > Mac Pro
Xserve > Xserve? Mac Serve?
Mac Pro has 3 configs
Best - Dual Xeon, 1GB 500GB 256X1800 $3299
Better - Core 2 Duo 2.93ghz 1GB 500gb 256mb X1600 $2499
Good - Core 2 Duo 2.6 1GB 250gb 256mb X1600 $1999
Xserves - All Xeons, dah
Seems fairly sound. i would be even happier if the low end was cheaper with slightly less speed and video. I would be immesly happy if its half as thick as the old one and has a verticle slot drive so I can lay it on its side and use it as a multimedia centre. I just wonder then where the ir reception will work(side of the slot like the mini?)
The best should come with 2GB ram as standard. But it should be well priced.
3) Leopard talk
I do wonder if they will do this earlier...
4) One more thing
Candidates: iPhone, iPod, New Screens (may be intro'd with Mac Pro's) what ever else there could be
I think the new screens will appear along side the Mac Pro annoucement -like you suggest.
I think the vibe for me is iPod and iPhone will be Paris, along with videom downloads.
I would really like to see a new wireless Apple Keyboard with dedicated function buttons (multimedia) or a wired one with illumination and even lcd etc.
I wonder if video over new airport expresses with hdmi out would be a goer. Again might be better for Paris or when the 802.11n standard comes out.

Ok...and the MSRP for that phone would be 800 bucks with a 10 year contract with cingular.
People need to realize that apple products are somewhat overpriced so I can see a great apple phone with great features but with a contract the phone is going to be extremely expensive.
Nokia already has phones (their N series (http://www.nokia.com/nseries/index.html?lang=en&country=US#product,n93)) capable of 640x480 30fps vid at $800 unlocked. I don't see an Apple Phone with these capabilities being THAT much more and certainly cheaper if Apple is the provider for the phone service as some people are speculating.
